Walk starts at 9am and is 2-2.5 hours long depending on how fast we walk and how many coffee/photo stops we have.
Area covered: Joo Chiat & Katong.
Streets and Roads visited:
East Coast Rd, Joo Chiat Rd, Koon Seng Rd, Duku Rd, Everitt Rd, Tembeling Rd, Joo Chiat Place, Joo Chiat Terrace.
We will see: beautiful residential 1920-1930s baroque Peranakan Shophouses.
We will admire a stunning colourful row of beach houses built in the Anglo-Malay bungalow style. We will explore hidden back alleys connecting main streets in the area.
You will hear stories about Peranakan culture, history and architecture in Katong. We will pause by a few Peranakan boutiques to bookmark them for a future visit. We will see lots of fascinating street art by different artists.
There will be many photo taking opportunities.
Walk finishes at the northern part of Joo Chiat Rd near Geylang Rd.
Plenty of great restaurants and cafes in the area if you'd like to conclude your walk with a dining experience.
The walk is conducted by the book author, who's been living in Singapore for 9 years and self published 3 books on shophouses. You can ask questions about the joys of self publishing along with the questions on heritage architecture and Peranakans.

Please arrive by 8.55am Walk starts at 9am sharp. Plenty of independent coffee shops nearby the meeting place and we can pause there in case you need a beverage to keep you going. There are more coffee shops along the way for a bathroom break and coffee take away.
