November Meander- Ang Mo Kio and Thomson Nature Park
Date: Tuesday 17th November 2020
Time: 9.00am - 12pm (approximately depending on everyone's pace)
Length: 7-8km
Meet: Bishan MRT exit C
End : Thomson Nature Park, Upper Thomson Road
In Singapore's heartland we start by walking through pretty Bishan and Ang Mo Kio Parks and then on to Lower Pierce Reservoir.
We then pick up the route of Singapore's original motor racing circuit along the Old Upper Thomson Road until we find the entrance to Singapore's newest nature park; Thomson Road Nature Park, the site of an abandoned village largely reclaimed by the jungle .
Here we can explore the paved trails and rediscover the former village's road network, the remains of some of the original homes and orchards and gain an insight into the ways of life during the kampung days.
There is a wealth of flora and fauna in this little park and if we are very lucky we may catch a glimpse of some of the park's rarest residents!
Things to bring: sunhat/umbrella, mosquito repellent (lots), sunscreen, binocs, MRT card and money for refreshments.
Walkers will also need to bring a water bottle, there are several places to refill on route.
The route is uneven in places with a couple of small hills so sturdy walking shoes are worthwhile.
